The first rendering with the Audi A9 has recently hit the web and the image posted above might provide us with a first look into what may become a future production model.
The German based automaker Audi is planning to develop a new model, which will sit above the current flagship sedan A8, and which will be named the Audi A9. The model will eventually be transformed into a production car and it should hit the market over the following years. The Audi A9 represents the company’s attempt to enter a new segment, which will most likely be followed by its main German rivals.
According to the guys at Auto Motor und Sport, the upcoming Audi A9 is expected to be announced sometimes in 2016 and it should be the flagship offering from the carmaker. The model will be taking its styling cues from the A7 four-door coupe but it will offer more luxury than the A8. The Audi A9 will be based on the next generation of the Q7 and it will have a better ride quality. The model will be a 5-meter long car with 4WD and the autonomous driving system where the on-board computer can completely drive the car up to a speed of 60 km/h. Additional details on the A9 remain unknown for the moment.
