The Ingolstadt-based automaker is ready to premiere not one, but two autonomous concepts at IAA, but it’s also going to satisfy the fans’ performance craving with the RS4 Avant and a rear-wheel-drive R8.
Audi is just about to premiere in the metal, in front of the worldwide audience of the Frankfurt Motor Show the all-new A8 flagship, but although this is their biggest premiere, the capable performer has already been shown for some time. As such, the advanced sedan – full of technology, including Level 3 capable autonomous driving system – will be joined on the stage by a pair of futuristic concepts. Both are also jumping in the autonomous bandwagon – but come with a more technologically advanced concept, as one will feature level 4 capabilities and the other one even touches Level 5. Audi is only teasing them for now – one is a coupe-SUV based on the E-Tron Sportback concept seen this year at Auto Shanghai, the other is a D segment car – and both are of course zero emissions full electrics.
The Ingolstadt-based marque is also going to present the hotly anticipated RS4 Avant, and it won’t be Audi Sport’s only model at the venue – as a teaser has come to confirm the R8 is going rear-wheel drive. This is Audi Sport’s first model without the Quattro branding, and it’s rumored to herald an entire armada of RWD models – though first we have to see how much success will have this one.
