The Audi A3 Sportback e-tron will be launched in 2014, as the carmaker has recently announced.
According to the German based automaker, the Audi A3 Sportback will get a new version next year, an e-tron, which is expected to hit dealerships at an estimated price of 38,000 euros. The model has been already previewed a few months ago, during the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, and it came with a 1.4 liter TFSI engine, producing 150 HP (110 kW), and with an electric motor, generating 102 HP (75 kW). The total output stood at 204 HP (150 kW) and 350 Nm of torque (258 lb-ft).
Rumors are saying that these figures will remain unchanged on the final production version of the model. The unit should be mated to a six-speed s-S tronic double clutch transmission, which should allow the model to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 7.6 seconds, before reaching a top speed of 138 mph (222 km/h). The model will burn an average of just 1.5 L / 100 km (188.3 mpg UK / 156.8 mpg US) and it will emit 35 g/km of CO2. Additional details on the Audi A3 Sportback e-tron are limited for the moment and will probably be announced close to its launch.
