The German based automaker Audi is planning to introduce a new top of the line SUV in the nearby future, which will be named the Q8.
With the new generations of the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport out, other SUV manufacturers are starting to lose ground but this won’t happen for a long time in Volkswagen’s back yard. According to the guys at Autocar, the carmaker is planning to introduce a new and luxurious SUV, which will be named the Q8. The announcement has been made by Wolfgang Durheimer, the company’s boss, during the 2013 Shanghai Motor Show.
“SUVs are our biggest priority and an SUV bigger than the Q7 is one we could do. It would fit in our offerings. Bentley has shown what can be done with a car of this size. I pushed for the Bentley SUV and I’m pushing for Audi to make something in this segment also. I could see Bentley and Audi both making SUVs, and Lamborghini also; in my job I’m trying to encourage the Lamborghini SUV project to progress”, as Durheimer told Autocar.
The brand new Audi Q8 will be similar to the company’s flagship sedan, the A8, but it will have a styling similar to the Range Rover Sport and a very luxurious interior, probably inspired from the A8. Additional details on the Audi Q8 are limited for the moment and will probably be announced close to the model’s debut.
