The new Audi e-tron Quattro Concept will be officially presented to the public at the in less than a month.
Audi is getting ready for the 2015th edition of the Frankfurt Motor Show and, besides the new generation of the A4, the company will also show the new e-tron Quattro Concept. The one-off vehicle will be providing us with a first look into the first ever Q6 crossover coupe, which will come with an electric powertrain exclusively and it will get a shape similar to the one of the BMW X6 and Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe. The model will have a sporty look, a sloping roofline, beefier wheel arches and side skirts, plastic body cladding and so on.
The Audi e-tron Quattro Concept will also come with the futuristic headlights with matrix laser OLED technology which will be superior to the current matrix LED setup. The vehicle will be riding on the second generation of the MLB platform and it will slot between the Q5 and the Q7, which is why the “Q6” moniker is rumored. The lithium-ion battery pack will be placed between the front and the rear axles, below the passenger area, for a more balanced weight distribution.
This will be co-developed with LG and Samsung and it will allow the vehicle to travel for up to 500 km (310 miles) before needing a new recharge. Three electric motors will be powering it, one mounted on the front axle and the other two in the back, a system similar to the R8 e-tron. A full-time all-electric AWD system will come to life, thanks to this. The interior of the model will have room for four people and no physical buttons and knobs will be seen here as these have been replaced by touch-operated displays. The production Audi Q6 is believed to be introduced sometimes in 2018.
