Audi Global sales up 28 percent in November image

Audi Ag, the premium division from Volkswagen, on Wednesday said worldwide new car sales rose 28 percent. The German automaker sold around 111,400 cars to customers.

Year to date, AUDI AG sold around 1,193,100 cars through the end of November – which puts the company well on course to reach its stated sales target of 1.3 million units.

The main driving forces behind this success were continued strong growth in China and a renewed pick-up in business in Germany.

In the United States, the maker of A8 premium sedan reported its 11th straight record-setting month of sales for the year with 9,700 vehicles sold in November 2011. Year-to-date sales ended the month up 15.2% with 104,906 vehicles sold, topping the previous annual U.S. sales record of 101,629 set at the end of last year.

Sales of the new A6 surged 69.8 percent to 1,379 vehicles sold in November 2011, while the A8, the brand’s flagship sedan increased 38.4 percent over the same period last year. 2012 Audi A7 sustains momentum with 631 vehicles sold.

In the European continent, Audi sold around 59,900 vehicles — 17.8 percent more than in November 2010. Year to date sales were 12.6 percent up on the prior year, with around 670,300 vehicles delivered.
Germany, audi’s domestic market rose again by 13.8 percent to 25,093 cars – primarily thanks to the success of the new A6 generation and additional customers for the new Audi A1 and Q3 models. From the beginning of the year, in Germany Audi sold 232,423 cars — an increase of 13.3 percent.

United Kingdom remains the company’s largest European export market. Audi recorded growth of 30.7 percent in November with 7,593 units sold. Cumulatively, Audi delivered 108,975 vehicles in the United Kingdom, 15.3 percent more than in the same period of 2010.

China and India recorded the strongest growth: +63.1 percent and + +83.3 percent.
