Last we heard about the Audi A3 lineup, which had been recently updated, it was back in May when the regular models were up for customer configurations.
But back then the S3 models were unavailable – and that has been rectified now. All available versions of the S3 can now be ordered online – starting from the base three-door to the rather steeply priced convertible packing an S tronic transmission. Among the configurations, there was also a bevy of interesting details concerning the specifications. For example, the S3 with a manual transmission tips the scales at 1,480 kilograms (3,263 pounds) – which is exactly the same weight as before the facelift. Other details remain unchanged – such as the combined fuel economy of 7 liters per 100 km (33.6 mpg), and that mans CO2 emission also remain unchanged.
Packing the new 2.0-liter turbo with 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque means the 10 horsepower gain has sufficed to make the S3 3-door a bit faster – by 0.2 seconds to 100 km/h (62 mph). The S tronic meanwhile trumps that by being 0.6s quicker, reaching the same velocity in 4.5 seconds. Without any options added, the base S3 will still cost no less than €41,000 and prices only climb from there – an options-free S3 Cabriolet reaches €50,700. There are standard amenities, such as the LED headlights, but there’s also a huge optional list. We can tell you a few interesting things, as Audi asks 350 euro just to pair your smartphone with the car, while the Virtual Cockpit seems a bargain at just €310.
