The German based automaker Audi has recently announced a milestone after 3 million units of the A3 have been produced.
The first generation of the Audi A3 has entered production 17 years ago and now, in 2013, the carmaker has managed to produce a total of 3, 000,000 units. The car wearing the 3m mark on it is a white A3 Sportback 2.0 TDI Quattro and it has recently rolled off the assembly line.
“With the Audi A3, we have created a new brand segment – we have been setting standards in the compact class with innovative technology and first-class quality for 17 years now”, said Frank Dreves, the Audi management member for production.
Audi has managed to sell no less than 913,000 units of the first generation of the A3, between 1996 and 2003. The second generation brought the number closer to the 2 million mark and the third generation, which was launched in autumn, 2012, which also added the sedan variant, for the first time, brought the production number of the A3 to 3,000,000. A new variant of the Audi A3, the Sportback e-tron, will make its way onto the market next year.
