The German based automaker Audi is planning to introduce a second body style version of the new TT generation, the Shooting Brake.
The announcement hasn’t been made official just yet but according to the guys at Top Gear, who have recently spoken to the company’s research and development boss, Ulrich Hackenberg, the model remains a possibility but its future is uncertain at the moment.
“I can imagine the TT has much more potential than we have used up to now. That’s why we did this Allroad concept. The trend is to smaller crossovers. So for example you could do a crossover TT”, said Hackenberg to our source.
It remains unknown for the moment whether this new version of the Audi TT will get some off-road body cladding or the “traditional” Shooting brake elements, or even a combination of these two, but we will probably find out the truth once the new TT generation will be officially unveiled, probably during the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, next month. Rumors are saying that the model will be riding on the MQB platform, which is also used on the new Golf, new A3 and other models, and it should get a 1.8 TFSI engine, with 180 PH, or a 2.0 TFSI, with 220 HP and 300 HP. The TT-RS will be coming with 380 HP out of a five-cylinder turbocharged unit.
