The German based automaker Audi is planning to develop an R10 diesel hypercar which will be inspired by the company’s Le Mans winning R18 e-Tron Quattro.
After writing about various future models to be produced by Audi over the following years, like the 282 mpg city car, the ultra lightweight TT or the lighter future generation of the Q7, time has come to talk about yet a new vehicle which is expected to enter the company’s lineup over the following years. Rumors are saying that this new model will sit above the current R8 supercar and it will be a diesel hypercar inspired by a racer.
According to the guys at Autocar, the future Audi model will be named the R10. The diesel hypercar will get a carbon fiber monocoque and a diesel engine which won’t be larger than a V8, but thanks to its electric motors, the total output produced is expected to be stunning. The so-called Audi R10 will be inspired by the Le Mans winning R18 e-Tron Quattro and it will basically be a road-going version of the racer. Additional details on the diesel hypercar are limited for the moment.
