New renderings with the Audi Q6 have recently hit the web and they might provide us with a first look into what will eventually become a production model.
The German based automaker Audi has fallen in the eyes of its SUV customers ever since it has failed to keep up with the main competition at BMW and its X6, but things are about to change very soon, because the carmaker is already working on a direct rival for the BMW X6. The model in question will be named the Q6 and it will be based on the same platform as the new Q7 generation, the MLB.
The brand new Audi Q6 should weigh significantly less than the outgoing version of the Q7, thanks to the use of a new platform, high tensile steel and aluminum. As for the Quattro all-wheel drive system, this will definitely be a part of the new model. The new Audi Q6 will get a sloping roofline and a range of TFSI petrol engines under its hood, with outputs between 117 HP and 225 HP, along with a 190 HP 2.0L TDI diesel and a 272 HP 3.0 TDI V6 diesel, amongst others. More details on the Q6 remain unknown for the moment.
