The German based automaker Audi is planning to develop a new luxury crossover, the Q8, which should get a four-door coupe styling.
Even if there is no official word on the Audi Q8 just yet from the carmaker, that doesn’t mean that the model isn’t in development and in fact rumors are saying that the Q8 will hit the production line soon. The Audi Q8 is expected to come with a four-door coupe styling and it should become the company’s ultimate luxury crossover. The Audi Q8 is also expected to be inspired by the Crosslane Coupe Concept in terms of styling but, then again, no official words on this for the moment.
The future Audi Q8 will ride on the long wheelbase version of the MLB platform, the same one which will underpin the future generations of the Audi Q7, the Volkswagen Touareg and the Porsche Cayenne which, thanks to the aluminum intensive architecture, will help the model to weigh 300 kg less than the outgoing Q7. A variety of V6 and V8 engines, along with a plug-in hybrid version and a possible high-performance RS variant will be adopted by the new Q8. The luxury crossover isn’t expected to be launched earlier than 2017.
