The German based automaker Audi is planning to develop a diesel hybrid hypercar which will be slotted above the R8 and will probably wear the R10 name.
With Audi planning to produce an ultra lightweight version of the TT and with the future Q7 generation shedding some significant weight, these won’t be the only changes applied to its models and in fact, the company will also develop a new supercar, which will be slotted above the current R8. Rumors are saying that the future model will be a direct rival for the Ferrari Enzo’s replacement, the F70, or to the Porsche 918 Spyder and to the McLaren P1.
The future Audi hypercar is expected to be named the R10 and it will get some tech from the 2012 R18 e-tron, which managed to win this year’s Le Mans. The Audi R10 will get a total output of 700 horsepower (522 kW) and a peak torque of 1,000 Nm (737 lb-ft) from its diesel hybrid powertrain, which will allow the hypercar to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in three seconds, before reaching a top speed of 322 km/h (200 mph). Additional details on the model are limited for the moment and will probably be announced soon.
