The German based automaker Audi is planning to put the R10 into production in the nearby future, and the model might be ready for the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show.
With Ferrari developing the LaFerrari, Lamborghini pulling the wraps off the limited edition Veneno, McLaren showing the P1 and Porsche getting ready to unveil the 918 Spyder, Audi couldn’t stay aside from this “battle” and the German based automaker is now planning to introduce a new supercar. After the R8, the company is now focusing on developing the so-called R10, which will be a hybrid supercar which might be ready just in time for the Frankfurt Motor Show, this year.
The Audi R10 will be inspired by the Le Mans racer and this will hit the market as a diesel-electric supercar. The model is expected to receive the 3.0 liter V6 turbo diesel unit under its hood, with 420 HP and 515 lb-ft of torque), helped by a pair of electric motors. The total output will stand at over 600 HP and 737 lb-ft of torque. The electric motors will stand on the front axle and drive the front wheels while the internal combustion unit will send power to the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual clutch automatic transmission. This will mirror the layout of the Porsche 918 Spyder. The Concept version of the Audi R10 is expected to be unveiled during the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show, in September.
