Audi has announced that the brand new R8 LMS is currently available for order.
After being officially shown at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, earlier this year, in March, the new Audi R8 LMS is being highlighted once more, this time with the carmaker officially announcing its availability. According to the German based brand, the vehicle is currently available for customer teams who will have to pay a total of 359,000 euros, plus VAT, before getting their hands on the racer. Choose the optional starter and parts package from Audi Sport and you will be bringing the total cost of the vehicle to no less than 398,000 euros, plus VAT.
Audi says that the new R8 LMS has lost 25 kg (55 lbs) from its total weight compared to its predecessor and it is getting the quick adjustable foot lever system, the height and length adjustable safety steering column, the roof mounted rescue opening, the Audi Protection Series PS1 seat connected to the chassis and several other goodies. The vehicle has also shaved up to 30 kg from its chassis which is now weighing 1,225 kg, bringing the total weight of the vehicle to 1,225 kg. Under its hood, we can find the 5.2 liter V10 engine, which is capable of producing a total output of 585 HP (430 kW), being connected to the new 6-speed transmission with paddle shifters. Production of the vehicle will begin on the 21st of September and the first units will be delivered by the end of this year.
