The German based automaker Audi is preparing to introduce its first ever diesel supercar, the R8 TDI, over the next few years.
Details on Audi developing a diesel supercar have been around for quite some time and it seems that the model in question is just a few years away from becoming real. According to the guys from Automobile Magazine, the supercar in question will be introduced in 2017 and it will be based on the new generation of the model. The Audi R8 TDI will come with a completely new look and it will be riding on the same platform as the Lamborghini Huracan and also as the regular R8.
Our source is saying that the Audi R8 TDI is a project of Ferdinand Piech and it might come with the 4.0 liter twin turbo V8 engine produced by the company. Rumors are saying that the supercar in question might even get the new 5.0 liter V10 TDI which is developed alongside Bentley. In other news, the next-gen of the Audi R8 will debut soon and it will get a 4.0L V8 twin turbo instead of the 4.2L naturally aspirated V8, which will produce 460 HP and 369 lb-ft of torque. The top of the line 5.2 liter V10 will be offered too and it will be updated.
