At the Audi Forum in Ingolstadt, Audi Quattro General Manger of Development Stephan Reil said that the premium automaker will bring more RS performance cars in to the US thanks in part to a more favorable euro-to-dollar exchange rate and increased similarity in emissions regulations.
“With experience and agility rooted in Audi motorsports success, the TT/RS is truly an emotional sports car,” said Johan de Nysschen, President of Audi of America. “That emotion became abundantly clear as we explored interest across the country.”
Geared for an US release late next year, the Audi TT RS models will feature the new gearbox developed by VW Group for an enhanced fuel economy. The seventh gear is designed to minimize fuel consumption by reducing the engine speed when the car goes into an overdrive by lowering the gear ratio.
Other RS models will be the RS5, set to come here in 2012 as a 2013 model. The delay is caused by an update that is prepared for the entire A5 line-up. A new RS4 is possible to be revealed next year.
