Audi RS3 Sportback is hungry for power, ABT delivers image

The German tuning specialists from ABT Sportsline have decided the Audi RS3 Sportback can deliver even more power than Ingolstadt’s engineers churned on the factory floor.

Thus, the RS3 – which has been dethroned in its own segment by the Mercedes-Benz upgrade of the A45 AMG to 381 PS – has gone through a doping procedure that has updated the standard 367 PS output. Working on the 5-cylinder, 2.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine, ABT’s specialists have delivered the cure: a new tally of 430 PS (316 kW), with torque also climbing from 465 Nm (343 lb-ft) to a more spectacular 530 Nm (391 lb-ft). The ABT Power “new generation” is also just the first stage, with the tuner working on the ABT Power S that will come to be even more surprising, according to chief executive Hans-Jürgen Abt. Regardless of the chosen power stage, you get an extra control unit and specifically developed software. But the customers ordering it also get new sound flavors – the 4-pipe exhaust system made of stainless steel has black chrome-plated 102 mm tailpipes. With the modifications in place, the menacing RS3 will sprint to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds and the electronically limited top speed has been climbed from 250 to 285 km/h.

Cosmetic changes have been severely limited, but you do get the option of having the cast ER-C or light forged ER-F, both available as 19 inchers in “Gun-Metal“, “Silverbullet“ or “Black Magic“ shades wrapped in 235/35 R19 tyres. Interior changes are also limited, but you can order the entrance LEDs with the ABT logo or the matching floor mats with silver ABT embroidery.
