The recently introduced new evolutions of the high-performance Audi machines – the RS4 Avant and RS5 Coupe are now available in Europe with the new Carbon Edition specification.
Although these are considered special editions, the automaker is actually skipping the usual imposed production limit, so anyone can enjoy the flashy new versions without fearing they’ll lose the order queue. Audi has even priced them already – costing £71,625 and 75,400 for the RS 4 and RS 5, respectively – with availability in the United Kingdom starting in December for the latter and March 2018 for the former.
The Carbon Editions feature a motorsport-inspired Carbon Fibre Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) build, with the RS 5 exclusively gaining a fully exposed CFRP roof. The Carbon Matt Aluminium Styling Pack comes with CFRP for the front and back (RS 5) spoilers, sill extensions, a diffuser insert and interior inlays as well as CFRP door mirror housings. There’s even a matt titanium quattro logo, along with new 20-inch ‘5-arm peak’ design alloy wheels in anthracite matt black instead of the standard 19-inchers.
The one-piece milled wheel design used for the Carbon Edition models is also bringing a weight reduction – 2 kilos compared to the standard forged wheels, with the RS 5 also lowering the weight by another 3 kilos thanks to the carbon roof. Both the RS 4 and RS 5 come with the new 2.9-liter biturbo V6 with 444 horsepower (331 kilowatts) and 443 pound-feet (600 Newton-meters), linked to an eight-speed automatic and the Quattro all-wheel-drive system.
