Audi RS5 Cabrio and 2014 R8 confirmed for Detroit debut

Audi has recently announced its plans to introduce the 2014 R8 and the RS5 Cabrio during the 2013 Detroit Motor Show.

After announcing that the R8 e-tron won’t get a production version, the German based automaker Audi is entering our news once again, this time with an announcement. According to the car manufacturer, the 2014 Audi R8 and the Audi RS5 Cabrio will be officially presented to the public during the 2013 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit. The drop-top version of the RS5 will get a naturally aspirated 4.2 liter FSI V8, generating 450 HP (331 kW) and 430 Nm (317 lb-ft), allowing the 2,005 kg vehicle to sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 4.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 174 mph (280 km/h).

Besides the Audi RS5 Cabrio, the carmaker will also pull the wraps off the 2014 Audi R8, during the same North American automotive event. The supercar is coming with a revised styling including the side mirrors, the hexagonal grille or the LED headlights. The model will get the 4.2 liter FSI V8 under its hood for the entry-level version, generating 430 HP (316 kW) and 430 Nm of torque (317 lb-ft). The unit will be mated to a new seven-speed S tronic transmission, allowing the supercar to sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 4.2 seconds, before reaching a top speed of 195 mph (314 km/h). the 5.2L FSI V12 will get 525 HP (386 kW) and 530 Nm (391 lb-ft), helping its 0-60 mph sprint of 3.3 seconds and 196 mph (315 km/h) top speed, and the R8 V10 Plus’ 5.2L FSI V10 will get 550 HP (404 kW) and 540 Nm (398 lb-ft). This version can sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 3.3 seconds and it can reach a top speed of 196 mph (315 km/h).
