The second largest luxury automaker in the world, the Ingolstadt-based Audi, has decided to use it Los Angeles Auto Show booth to showcase the three models later on this month.
First and foremost, the R8 supercar – now in its second generation – will debut on American soil, with the 2017 model year tipped to reach showrooms in spring of 2016 using its 5.2-liter V10 engine that churns out 540 bhp (402 kW) and 610 bhp (454 kW). The maker has also decided to introduce the all new RS 7 performance which most likely will take the European-spec for granted and deliver the same twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine that has been updated to deliver now 605 PS (445 kW) and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque – 750 Nm (553 lb-ft) with overboost. The powerplant has been mated to a modified eight-speed tiptronic transmission that handles all the power in order to have the Sportback jump to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.7 seconds. The RS 7 performance’ distinguishing features also include a revised front fascia with sporty bumper and gloss black honeycomb grille inserts. Also on point are the bespoke 21-inch alloy wheels and the updated diffuser.
Moving on, the Audi S8 plus uses the same mill – twin-turbo 4.0-liter TFSI V8 engine coming with 605 PS (445 kW) and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque – 750 Nm (553 lb-ft) with overboost. The hulking limousine will jump to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds and top out at an electronically capped 305 km/h (189.5 mph). The sedan also has a reworked air suspension, retuned steering system and carbon ceramic brakes with anthracite-gray calipers sporting the four-rings logo.
