Audi TT Roadster caught on camera for the first time image

The first spy photos with the third generation of the Audi TT Roadster have ended up in our hands, showing the model ahead of its debut, scheduled for early 2015.

The 2016 Audi TT Roadster has been spied for the first time and it is based, of course, on the TT Coupe, which has been revealed back in March, during the 2014 Geneva Motor Show. The model in question will be riding on the same MQB platform, which is also used under the new TT, being shared with the Golf 7, the Audi A3, the Seat Leon and so on.

The upcoming Audi TT Roadster will be smaller and lighter than the A3 and it will look exactly the same as the coupe, except for the roof. We expect engines such as the 2 liter TDI with its 185 HP, along with the 1.4 liter TFSI producing 150 HP. These are also used on the new-gen Audi A3 too but a larger petrol burner, a 1.8 liter turbo, will become available too, with its 180 HP. The new TT Roadster will be 50 kg lighter than its predecessor and it will be capable of reaching 100 km/h from a standstill in just 5 seconds in the 310 HP version. Top speed will be limited to 250 km/h. A full reveal is expected to be made in early 2015, at the NAIAS in Detroit.
