Premium carmaker Audi Ag has just unveiled its updated 2013 R8 supercar ahead of its public debut at the Paris motor show in September.

Features of the revised sports car comprise styling tweaks inside and out, a new seven-speed S-tronic dual-clutch transmission and the addition of a more focused V10 Plus model to the R8 line-up.

The 2013 R8 gets reworked headlights, new LED daytime running lights, and a revised grille. The result isn’t a huge departure from the current R8, but may be enough to keep the R8 looking fresh for the years to come.

As an option, Audi installs a front splitter made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP). The splitter is standard on the new R8 V10 plus.

At the back, the 2013 R8 sports a new set of LED taillights, a different ‘R8′ logo, a restyled diffuser, air outlets with three slats on each corner and two new round tailpipes on all engine versions.

Changes in the cabin have been kept to a minimum, with tweaks to the instrument cluster, shift paddles and upholstery options.

Mechanically, the big news is the addition of a 404kW ‘V10 plus’ model, while the entire range benefits from a brand new seven-speed S Tronic dual-clutch gearbox. The more modern transmission improves performance and reduces fuel consumption and emissions – by up to 22g/km in fact.

Thankfully, a six-speed manual is still offered, although Audi claims that the car equipped with the S-tronic is actually faster to 60 miles per hour by three-tenths of a second in all models.
