The guys at Subaru Australia have cooked up a special edition of the BRZ sports car, which comes nicely equipped with some design tweaks to entice the buyers.
Because BRZ sales in Australia are slowing down – we think it’s not the fault of the model, the general Australian auto market is slumping – the company aims to offset the trend with the 40, 650 AUD special series. The cosmetic upgrades added to the rear-wheel drive boxer engined car are worth 9,000 AUD – but the asking price is of only 3,500 AUD.
For the 40,650 AUD BRZ, Subaru throws in the STI-branded 17-inch lightweight alloys, a rear diffuser and a complete stripes package. We also identified a matte black front spoiler, rear spoiler lip and side skirts. There are also some STi accessories added: a start/stop button and a short-throw gearshift for the manual gearbox or a knob for the auto transmission.
The new, Australia-only special series has been designed for the 2015 model year BRZ, which brings on itself a host of improvements: larger stainless steel tailpipe terminations, updated suspension dampers and other subtler mechanical tweaks.
Power comes from the same naturally aspirated four-cylinder 2.0-liter boxer that delivers 200 hp and 205 Nm (151 lb-ft) of torque, mated to a six-speed manual or automatic transmission. The 2015 Subaru BRZ Australian special edition is already on sales and customers should expect deliveries starting with November.
