Opel has recently announced its plans to introduce the Zafira Tourer to the Australian market in mid-2013.
According to the German based automaker, the Opel Zafira Tourer is coming with over 30 storage compartments, which are highlighted by the multi-functional FlexRail center console, which includes the center armrest. The model is also coming with a second row of lounge seating, which is allowing the middle seat to be folded down and to rotate in order to become a lounge-like armrest for the passengers in the outer seats. The legroom and shoulder room have been expanded by 280 mm and 50 mm thanks to the sliding seat rails.
Opel says that for the Zafira Tourer, both 1.6 liter turbocharged petrol and 2.0 liter turbo diesel units will be available. The model is set to become a rival for the Toyota Prius V and the next generation of the Kia Rondo, on a price list set just under 40,000 AUD. Full pricing and extra specifications on the Opel Zafira Tourer for Australia will be announced over the following months, but the model is expected to be priced between the Astra, which costs 23,990 AUD, and the Insignia, which costs 38,490 AUD. The Zafira was previously sold, between 2001 and 2006, with Holden badges.
