The French automaker, which has an important presence in India, has decided to bestow the Auto Expo that will start this week with a couple of KWID concepts.
The smallest crossover in the automaker’s range has been selling in India for just a few months and seems to have been greeted with open heart – as there are 90,000 orders already. Now Renault has decided to show some love to the Kwid fans by releasing a pair of prototype for the upcoming Auto Expo. We have the KWID RACER – which thanks to its name is pretty self-explanatory – coming with a sporty and more aggressive body kit. It has a set of 18-inch alloy wheels with low-profile tires and has been painted in a blue metallic hue that has been granted some red accents and a blacked out roof. More changes happen inside the cabin, where there are only two seats – the rear bench was taken out because the interior is also occupied by a roll cage. As any race car would have, the only two seats are of the bucket type and use a four-point harnesses – the driver will also handle a flat-bottomed steering wheel covered in leather.
The KWID CLIMBER meanwhile goes the opposite way and had the idea to spice up the off-roader credentials of the model – we have a bigger ground clearance and beefier tires. There is also front and back underbody protection, four-point LED daytime running lights, and some electric blue accents to combine with the orange paint. The two prototypes are not the only Renault novelty for the Auto Expo, with the carmaker also premiering a completely new 1.0-liter SCe engine for the regular Kwid, though additional details and performance figures have not been released yet.
