AutoNation sold the 9 millionth vehicle in July, reaching double digit gains for the month.
AutoNation reported revenue up 17% in July and said that its 9millionth vehicle sold was a truck, and accounts for a feat no other auto retailer can boast. The vehicle, a blue 2013 Ford F-150 pickup truck, was purchased by 92-year-old Palmetto man, who owns an auto-repair business. Once he receives his new vehicle he will also get 3 years of free oil changes, besides other basic services.
“What makes this accomplishment even more remarkable is how quickly we’ve achieved it,” said Mike Jackson, chairman and CEO of AutoNation. “It’s a real testament to our business philosophy and our coast-to-coast team of over 21,000 associates who have the talent and tenacity to accomplish amazing things.”
In July, AutoNation sold 25,403 vehicles, including 24,195 same-store units sales, up 12% from July 2012. Domestic deliveries were up 23%, imports increased 14% and premium luxury brads’ sales were up 19%. Jackson said that to maintain forecast for industry sales consumers have to replace their aging vehicles and the automakers have to keep offering new products and affordable financing deals.
