Back in black is the name of the game for Volvo’s V90 in scale model form [gallery] image

Yet another officially licensed scale model of the yet to be released Volvo S90 flagship has appeared on the Internet, this time around featuring a very serious Onyx Black hue.

We have been getting numerous scale model leaks of the Volvo S90 – all of them featuring a Liquid Blue exterior paint job – and now we get to see another color, the very elegant Onyx Black shade complete with a Scandinavian luxury interior in cream. As we saw before, the S90 will be a major departure from the aged S80 and we’ll be treated to the new signature Thor’s Hammer LED daytime running lights that were first seen on the flagship crossover – the XC90. This scale model also features unusual amounts of chrome to go with the massive grille featuring the enlarged Volvo logo. We have a sleek profile thanks to the arching roofline and judging by the position of the third row of side windows – after the C-pillar – we’re going to make a careful judgment involving enlarged dimensions compared to the S80 predecessor. At the back we noticed the dual chrome exhaust pipes and big C-shaped taillights that bite into the trunk lid and convert your attention to the massive “Volvo” lettering.

From previously spied S90’s we also know the cabin will mostly carry over unchanged from the XC90, albeit with minor tweaks and changes to set it apart a little. The S90 rides on the same SPA platform as the XC90 and we imagine the lengthy wheelbase will render a spacious back seating, lifting comfort where it matters the most in this segment.
