Rubens Barrichello will debut on January 26 at the Daytona 24 Hours in a Porsche GT car which he will share with former IndyCar team-mate Tony Kanaan.
The two Brazilian drivers, who have already taken part in the pre-race test last weekend with Dener Motorsport, will share Dener Motorsport’s #21 Challenge Brazil Porsche GT3 in the 51st Grand-Am Rolex 24 Hours At Daytona (January 26-27).
Barrichello recently announced that he would leave the IZOD IndyCar Series after a single season in order to race in the Brazilian Stock Car Championship in 2013. He had previously been team-mates with close friend Kanaan at KV Racing Technology. The other two drivers that will share the #21 Porsche are Stock Car V8 frontrunners Ricardo Mauricio and Flavio Figueiredo.
Other star drivers to take part at this year’s Daytona 24 Hours are former Champ Car and IndyCar star Paul Tracy, on the #77 Doran Racing Ford/Dallara, Dario Franchitti at the wheel of the #02 BMW/Riley for the TELMEX Chip Ganassi Racing and 24 Hours of Le Mans winner Allan McNish on the #2 Starworks Motorsport Ford/Riley shared with Sebastian Bourdais.
The field also includes established drivers such as Simon Pagenaud, Bruno Junquiera, Juan Pablo Montoya, with speculation that two-time CART champion and 2012 Paralympics gold medalist Alex Zanardi may be interested in appearing in the race.
