The North American based automaker Ford has pulled the wraps off the Fiesta-based SUV, the Ecosport, during the 2012 Beijing Motor Show in China.
After being officially presented to the public earlier this year, the Ford Ecosport is once again placed into the spotlights, this time with the company revealing it during the 2012 Beijing Motor Show. According to the car manufacturer, the Ford Ecosport is actually a step of the brand’s commitment to introduce 15 new models in China by 2015, and the Fiesta-based SUV will be one of the first ones to ride in the Asian country.
“We are ready to demonstrate aggressive growth this year in China, the most exciting car market in the world”, said the president of Ford Asia Pacific and Africa, Joe Hinrichs. “We are working hard to secure the avid interest of Chinese car enthusiasts with these new and exciting Ford vehicles loaded with green and smart technologies”, added the company’s official.
The Ford Ecosport is made at the company’s plant in China, the Chongquin facility, and the model will get the new 1.0 liter three-cylinder turbocharged engine, which is developing a total output of 118 horsepower and it has a peak torque of 125 lb-ft. More details on the production version of the Ford Ecosport will be announced close to the model’s launch.
