The Beijing Foton Daimler Automotive produced its first Auman-brand truck at the Huairou plant.
“The joint production of our first Auman truck under BFDA is the result of thorough planning and groundwork that was done by Daimler and Foton in an intensive and co-operative way, ” stated Ulrich Walker, Chairman and CEO of Daimler Northeast Asia Ltd.
Walker added that the JV is a major contribution to the Chinese market, where Daimler is the single foreign auto maker that covers all segments, such as vans, trucks, passenger cars, as well as spare parts and financial services. Wang Jinyu, President and CEO of Foton Motor declared that the JV will offer competitive products manufactured through the combination of Daimler’s technical expertise and Foton’s market know-how.
BFDA plans to build another Auman truck facility and also establish the OM 457 production at the JV’s headquarters. The OM 457 is an engine that was used for the Mercedes-Benz commercial cars in Europe and Latin America. Now this engine will be introduced according to the coming Chinese emissions standard China IV.
“It is our goal to use the best of both worlds. Through our technical expertise, for example, we will be able to offer our customers an additional option and to cater to their individual needs even better,” added Mr. Stefan Albrecht, Executive Vice President of BFDA.
