The 2016 Auto China is bringing a serious infusion of small-sized power thanks to Brabus presenting the Smart ForTwo, ForTwo Cabriolet and ForFour models.
The Brabus versions for the entire Smart range were a long-debated subject of the rumor mill and we even saw them in photo session leaks, but now all three versions are making the official move to primetime. The Brabus credentials are supported via the modified front bumper and matte grey rear diffuser insert with chrome trim for the dual exhaust tips. All three cars will use matte Monoblock lightweight alloy wheels made by Brabus in different sizes. The ForTwo Coupe and Cabrio will ride on 16-inch front & 17-inch rear shod in 185/50 R 16 H and 205/40 R 17 H tires, respectively. The most practical Smart, the ForFour will have the bigger 17-inch alloy wheels fitted to all four wheels but again the tires are differentiated: 185/45 R 17 H front and 205/40 R 17 rear.
The turbocharged 0.9-liter, three-cylinder engine might have proved too much for Brabus or Daimler said gold elements and bonkers power is not for Smart – as such just 7 horsepower (5 kilowatts) and 17 pound-feet (23 Newton meters) were added to the engine’s credentials. The result is of 109 hp (80 kW) at 5,750 rpm and 125 lb-ft (170 Nm) at 2,000 rpm. The added punch allows the ForTwo Coupe and Cabrio to reach 62 mph (100 km/h) in 9.5 seconds and a maximum speed of 102.5 mph (165 km/h). The ForFour will handle the sprint in 10.5 seconds and will top out at 111.8 mph (180 km/h). The enhancements are complimented with a performance sports suspension and modified ESP – with the faster six-speed, dual-clutch automatic now boasting a Race Start function.
Prices kick off in Germany at €19,710 for the ForTwo Coupe, €22,970 for the ForTwo Cabrio and €20,520 for the ForFour.
