The E-Bugster Concept car has been officially presented to the public at the 2012 Beijing Motor Show by the German based automaker Volkswagen.
According to the car manufacturer, the E-Bugster Concept has been named after the American nickname for the Beetle, “Bug”, and the “speedster” body style. The all-new E-Bugster Concept is actually considered to be a pre-production version of the new Beetle Convertible and the model is 90 mm lower and 30 mm longer than the production version of the Beetle Coupe. The VW E-Bugster’s design is being maintained by the Beetle DNA which can be found just about everywhere on its body.
“Bugster? That sounds familiar. Of course: Ragster! That was in January 2005 in Detroit, where Volkswagen presented a New Beetle as a speedster with a swept-back ragtop (folding roof) – the Ragster. A design vision for the Beetle of tomorrow – wider, lower, sportier”, as the automaker is saying in its official press release.
The all-new Volkswagen E-Bugster Concept is a zero-emission vehicle, as you probably already know or figured it out thanks to the “E” in its name. Power to the E-Bugster Concept car is being provided by an electric motor, which is generating 114 horsepower, allowing the mode to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 10.8 seconds.
