The Bentley Continental GT3-R has been officially unveiled by the company as the model in question is definitely one of the hottest ever produced.
Bentley’s newest creation is named the Continental GT3-R and it has been based on the Continental GT3 track-only, but unlike its racer counterpart, this can be driven on the road. According to the car manufacturer, the model in question has shed some 100 kg (220 lbs) off its weight by the adoption of the titanium exhaust system, the removal of the rear seat and the new 21-inch lightweight forged 21-inch alloy wheels, covered in Pirelli tires.
The Bentley Continental GT3-R is taking its power from a 4.0 liter V8 twin turbo engine, which is producing a total output of 580 HP (426 kW) at 6,000 rpm and it has a peak torque of 700 Nm (516 lb-ft), from 1,700 rpm, compared to the standard 528 HP (389 kW) and 680 Nm (520 lb-ft) of torque. This has been achieved thanks to the new engine control software and the higher boost of the turbochargers. The 0 to 100 km/h sprint takes 3.8s and top speed stands at 273 km/h (170 mph). This has decreased because of the transmission’s shorter gearing.
When compared to the Bentley Continental GT V8, the new Continental GT3-R is faster by 0.7s from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) but top speed is where the two models are being set apart, as the GT V8 can reach 309 km/h (192 mph). The Bentley Continental GT3-R will become available in a Glacier White paint job, with some glossy carbon fiber contrasts on the grille, bumper strips, headlight bezels and some other tweaks. The model in question will be produced in 300 units. No pricing details have been announced yet.
