The British ultra luxury manufacturer has revealed the 2016 model year Continental GT Speed, which packs an extra 7 horsepower (5 kilowatts) and 15 pound-feet (20 Newton meters) of torque.
Now the hulking biturbo 6.0-liter W12 engine has an output total of 642 hp and 620 lb-ft (840 Nm). The engineers also reworked the boost control to enable the driver to harness the extra torque throughout the entire rev spectrum and now the maximum torque is attained in between 2,000 rpm and 5,000 rpm. With the added oomph the 2016 Bentley Continental GT Speed will be able to reach 60 mph (96 km/h) in 3.9 seconds, with the 0-62 mph (100 km/h) sprint taking 4.1 seconds and the top speed now stands at an impressive 206 mph (331 km/h). Compared to the predecessor the new 2016 Bentley Continental GT Speed is 0.1 seconds faster at both runs but has the same maximum speed.
Aside from the new model year edition Bentley has also introduced a Black Edition of the Continental GT Speed that can be ordered both in coupe and convertible form. This one actually has already debuted back in Australia during the Australian GP. There are numerous enhancements for the international model – such as a wide array of colors, and the special version can be differentiated from the regular through the high gloss black accents, including for the lamp bezels and window openings. Owners can select black or red brake calipers to sit behind the five-spoke, all-black 21-inch wheels. Both models are already up for order and Bentley has announced first deliveries of either the Continental GT Speed or the Black edition will kick off this summer.
