Six months sales at Volkswagen AG’s ultra luxury division climbed to new heights, jumping almost a quarter from the figures of 2013, putting the automaker on track to another record year.
Bentley Motors registered its growth on increased demand from the China and Middle East regions, with worldwide sales jumping 23% to 5,254 units, up from 4,279 cars in the same time frame last year.
“There is simply no-one in the luxury automotive sector that can match these results. We continue to prove we are the world’s most sought after luxury car brand. It’s vital to continuously develop in our exclusive market, as our customers are the most discerning. There is no question that some markets will remain tough but we are confident of a good 2014,” said Kevin Rose, the brand’s sales and marketing chief.
Buoyed by increased customer demand for the Flying Spur and Flying Spur V8, China sales rose no less than 61% to 1,318 autos, while the volume accounted in the Middle East had a 27% growth to 537 vehicles.
The traditional regions, the Americas and Europe also delivered positive results. The North and South American region, Bentley’s No.1 market, had an 8% rise to 1,388 units, while the core European market’s recovery manifested with a good 11% sales increase to 835 cars.
