Bentley has recently announced its plans to enter the British GT Championship with its Continental GT3 racer, which should make its racing debut on the 19th of April, 2014.
According to the luxury carmaker’s motorsport division, the new Bentley Continental GT3 will compete in the British GT Championship. The model in question will be driven by Steve Tandy and by James Appleby in the competition and it’s said to make its racing debut in the second quarter of 2014, on the 19th of April.
“I am delighted that David and his team will be competing with the Continental GT3 in our home country in 2014. The team has a wealth of experience and I’m confident that their energy and professionalism will see some very encouraging results next year”, said Brian Gush, the Bentley Motorsport director.
The new Bentley Continental GT3 has been officially unveiled just earlier this year. The model in question is significantly faster than its road going brother and its total weight stands at approximately 1,300 kg (2,866 lbs). The model is taking its power from a 4.0 liter V8 twin turbo engine, which is producing a total output of 600 HP (447 kW), mated to a 6-speed Xtrac sequential transmission.
