Bentley is planning to enter the 2013 Dakar Rally with a new SUV, in order to promote the upcoming crossover.
Even if there is no official word from Bentley on this rumor for the moment, the guys at carmagazine.co.uk are saying that the company will enter the 2013 Dakar Rally with a new SUV. According to our source, Bentley will buy back the Volkswagen Race Touaregs, which were sold to private racing teams, and it will convert them into modified versions of the EXP 9 F SUV concept, which was officially presented to the public in March this year, during the 2012 Geneva Motor Show.
Rumors are saying that the modified Volkswagen Touareg vehicles will be bare-bone off-roaders and they will be fitted with an upgraded body shell in order to look the same to the SUV concept. We don’t know for the moment what engine will the vehicles in question use but the Race 3 Touareg was being powered by a 2.5 liter TDI unit, which was developing a total output of 296 horsepower and a peak torque of 599 Nm (442 lb-ft). More details on this subject will be announced by Bentley later on this year.
