Porsche Leipzig GmbH dubbed 2011 as the best year in its history. The entire year the company hit amazing production numbers: 93,838 vehicles at Saxony site, 62,004 at Cayenne and 31,834 at Panamera.
“We were able to increase production in Leipzig by 47 per cent compared with the year before and are turning in an increase also in 2012 record performance in 2011,” explained Wolfgang Leimgruber, Member of the Executive Board Production and Logistics of Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG.
Around 2,400 customers came to Leipzig to take their Porches and also tried out the circuit and challenging off-road course at the location.
“Porsche Leipzig is a success story that began in 2002 with the inauguration of the factory on a greenfield site, with new chapters being added continuously ever since. 900 employees are now busy putting top quality Panameras and Cayennes on the road. To meet the high demand, we are introducing a third shift from the end of January 2012,” added Leimgruber.
The company already makes preparations for a new model line, a new small SUV with project title Cajun, for which 1,000 jobs will be created. More than 500 million euro will be invested in developing its Saxony location, which is to become a factory with its own body assembly and paint shop until 2013.
