Birmingham Bolt sports car going to Delhi Auto Expo
The Birmingham based companies will officially present to the public a new sports car concept, the Bolt, at the 2012 New Delhi Auto Expo.
According to the manufacturer, the Birmingham Bolt will be officially shown at the 2012 New Delhi Auto Expo in India, on January 5, 2012 and the model is expected to hit the production line in about 18 months, but just like other concept cars, the public will have a major role in either accepting it or rejecting it, and the Indian automotive event will be the sports car’s first concept with its future possible buyers.
“The Bolt is a high performance, premium concept vehicle design that incorporates advanced engineering capability and precision parts sourced almost exclusively in the Birmingham area. Our established automotive supply chain means that the majority of the Bolt’s body, chassis, interior and underlying componentry could be supplied locally – seeing this deisng or one very much like it accelerate from the drawing board and onto roads in under 18 months using our existing research, development and manufacturing base”, said Business Birmingham’s transport technologies and manufacturing investment manager, Martyn Mangan.
Even if we don’t actually know too much about the Birmingham Bolt, the options for companies capable of bringing the sports to the road include Ricardo (drivetrain and transmission), Rimstock (wheels) and Goodyear (tires). The Birmingham Bolt will be officially presented to the public on January 5, 2012, at the New Delhi Auto Expo.
