The BMW 1-Series GT has recently leaked in an European magazine, revealing the first ever image with the model, ahead of its public debut at the Paris Motor Show later on this month.
According to the guys at the Bimmer Post, the BMW 1-Series GT, or the Compactive Tourer, as it was also named, is the company’s first model in the upcoming lineup of the front-wheel drive 1-Series cars and the model will be officially presented to the public at the 2012 Paris Motor Show on the 27th of September. The BMW 1-Series GT will hit the market sometimes in 2013 as a 2014 model year.
Rumors are saying that the BMW 1-Series GT is based on the same platform as the next generation of the MINI, which will also go on sale in 2013, and both vehicles will be offered with three- and four-cylinder engines, but the German model will be more powerful.
Powetrain options on the 1-Series GT will include the 1.5 liter three-cylinder unit and the 2.0 liter four-cylinder, both of them gasoline, along with a three-cylinder 1.5 liter diesel which will develop more than 100 HP and a larger 2.0 liter four-cylinder diesel. Six-speed manual transmissions will be offered in standard and eight-speed automatic as options. Hybrid and electric versions of the BMW 1-Series GT will be offered later on.
