The German aftermarket specialists at Hartge have revealed an upgrade package for the BMW 1-Series 116i, which can boost the model’s engine up to 171 horsepower.
According to Hartge, the BMW 116i’s four cylinder engine is now getting a power boost, which can allow the standard unit to develop a total output of 171 horsepower, available at the same 4,400 rpm, and a peak torque of 265 Nm at 2,000 rpm. The standard version of the BMW 116i is generating 136 horsepower at 4,400 rpm and 220 Nm of torque available between 1,350 rpm and 4,300 rpm, and the extra power has been achieved thanks to the remapped ECU.
The Hartge tuning house, which is specialized in BMW models, didn’t say anything about the 116i’s performance except that the 80 to 180 km/h sprint is done 6 seconds faster in 20,63 seconds, and the top speed of the German hatchback is the same, at 210 km/h. Besides its few extra horsepower squeezed from the standard engine, the BMW 116i has also been fitted with a lowered sports suspension, a stainless steel exhaust system, aluminum pedals and a fresh set of 19-inch alloy wheels. There is no word on the upgrade package’s price for the moment.
