BMW 1M Coupe is Richard Hammond’s Car of the Year image

The famous Top Gear UK presenter Richard Hammond has recently named the BMW 1M Coupe the 2011 Car of the Year.

Even if most of us would rather get new car advice from our wives than from the three Top Gear presenters, even if the car program is obviously the best in the world, we have to agree with Richard Hammond in this case and even if it might not be on the first position in 2011, the BMW 1M Coupe is definitely in top 3 cars of the year. Richard Hammond thinks that the BMW 1M Coupe is the Car of the Year 2011 and the model has even been described as getting close to the original BMW E30 M3.

“It’s a small car, but that’s not the full story. A Labrador puppy and a fully grown duck are both small and roughly the same size as each other, but only one of them will hump your leg, eat your trainers and chew your finger when you try to pet it… And it’s not the duck”, as Richard Hammond said while describing the BMW 1M Coupe.

As a reminder, the BMW 1M Coupe is the high-performance version of the 1-Series coupe and it’s powered by the same N54 engine found in the 335is and the Z4sDrive35is. The unit is a 3.0 liter inline straight-six cylinder, twin turbo and direct injected, which is developing 335 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque (450 Nm). The 0 to 60 mph acceleration takes 4.7 seconds and the top speed is electronically limited to 155 mph (250 km/h).
