The BMW 2-Series Active Tourer will not be offered with all-wheel drive options too, as the company has recently announced.
The first ever BMW with front-wheel drive is about to get more exciting as the company will be introducing an xDrive AWD version. According to the car manufacturer, this is the first time when the xDrive system is being offered on a front-wheel drive vehicle with a transversally installed engine. The company will be offering the 2-Series Active Tourer in two variants, a petrol burner, the 220i xDrive Active Tourer and a diesel, the 220d xDrive Active Tourer.
“The latest example of model-specific alignment of the four-wheel drive system is provided by the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer. The fundamental difference to previous variants is that, for the first time, BMW xDrive is premised on a front-wheel drive concept with transversally installed engines “, says the company in its official press release.
The BMW 225i xDrive is said to have an average fuel consumption of 6.4 – 6.5 liters every 100 km and CO2 emissions of 148 – 152 g/km and the 220d xDrive is averaging between 4.6 and 4.8 liters / 100 km and 122 – 127 g/km of CO2. Both of them will be coming with the standard 8-speed automatic transmission. No pricing details on the two models have been announced yet.
