BMW is currently testing out the new 2-Series Cabrio as the model in question is getting ready to be unveiled this summer.
After the BMW 2-Series Coupe has been unveiled a few months ago, coming basically as a successor of the 1-Series Coupe, the development of a convertible version was no secret anymore and it seems that the drop-top is close to the assembly line than it was believed. The model in question has been caught on camera by our spy photographers while it was being tested out and the images posted below are showing it virtually undisguised, but with the canvas top closed.
The new BMW 2-Series Cabrio is based on the 1-Series hatchback and it will become a little sportier than the 5-door vehicle. It will, however, borrow the engine lineup and the technology from the hatchback and rumors are saying that we will only see the 2.0 liter gasoline burner, with 150 HP, 177 HP and 218 HP under its hood, along with the 214 HP 2.0 liter turbocharged diesel. All units will be connected to a 6-speed manual or an 8-speed automatic transmission. The xDrive all-wheel drive system will become available too. The BMW 2-Series Cabrio will be unveiled this summer.
