The second model to be based on the 2-Series Active Tourer, the so-called 2-Series Family Tourer, has been caught on camera as it was being tested out by BMW recently.
BMW has been working for a few months now on a more practical version of the 2-Series Active Tourer, the 2-Series Family Tourer, which is going to be using the same platform but it is going to offer more space in the back and an extra two seats, which should transform it into an even more appealing premium MPV for families. The model in question will be coming with two extra seats in the back but by looking at the images posted below, we can dare to say that these will be big enough just for kids.
The vehicle’s design will pretty much remain the same as the one of the 2-Series Active Tourer, except for the taller greenhouse towards the rear, and the interior will also look the same. As far as the engine lineup goes, the same units will be used which will include the 3-cylinder 1.5 liter turbocharged and the 2-liter top of the line unit with its 231 HP and 350 Nm of torque, which is powering the 225i. We are not sure at this time whether BMW will introduce xDrive all-wheel drive versions of this model. More details on the new BMW 2-Series Family Tourer are limited at this time but rumor has it that this might be unveiled in Geneva, in a couple of months.
