The first image with a Gran Coupe version of the new BMW 2-Series has recently hit the web and it might provide us with a first look into a final production version of the model.
The German based automaker BMW didn’t announce any plans to offer a Gran Coupe version of the new 2-Series but the model might receive such a variant, considering the fact that it will follow the same example as its larger brothers, the 3-Series and the 6-Series. If such a version of the BMW 2-Series will indeed hit the market, than the only differences will be visual, an increased legroom in the rear and the two additional doors.
As far as the engine lineup goes, the upcoming BMW 2-Series Gran Coupe is believed to carry over the same units as the regular 2-Series Coupe which currently include the 220i Coupe, the 228i Coupe, the 235i Coupe and the 220d Coupe. In the United States, the only versions available are the 228i, with its 2.0 liter 240 HP and 258 lb-ft of torque, along with the 235i, with its 3.0 liter six-cylinder unit, producing 322 HP and 332 lb-ft of torque. More details on the BMW 2-Series Coupe can be read here.
