The newest member to the BMW MPV family is this 2-Series Gran Tourer which has been officially unveiled.
The BMW 2-Series Gran Tourer is a compact vehicle with seven seats and it has received a higher roof, longer rear doors and a revised rear end, compared to the 2-Series Active Tourer. The model in question is also getting a third row of seats which can fold flat into the floor and the total boot space stands at 1,905 liters with the rear seats folded down.
BMW says that the size of the 2-Series Gran Tourer is 4,556 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width and 1,608 mm in height. As far as the petrol engine lineup goes, this includes two units, the 218i, which is bringing the 1.5 liter 3-cylinder TwinPower Turbo engine, rated at 136 HP (100 kW) and 220 Nm (162 lb-ft) of torque, which can help the model reach 100 km/h (62 mph) in 9.5s and a top speed of 205 km/h (127 mph), along with the 2.0 liter TwinPower Turbo four-cylinder, producing 192 HP (141 kW) and 280 Nm (207 lb-ft). This can allow the model to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) in 7.6s and a top speed of 223 km/h (138 mph).
Diesel lovers can order the 216d, which is bringing the 1.5 liter TwinPower Turbo 3-cylinder, with 116 HP (85 kW) and 270 Nm (199 lb-ft) of torque. Next in the lineup comes the 218d, which has a 2.0 liter TwinPower Turbo four-cylinder, with 150 HP (110 kW) and 330 Nm (243 lb-ft) of torque. Last but not least comes the 220d xDrive, adding a 2.0L with 190 HP (140 kW) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque, connected to an 8-speed transmission. From 0 to 100 km/h, this model needs 7.6 seconds and it can go up to 218 km/h (135 mph).
