The new generation of the BMW 3-Series has been launched in China earlier this week and the base model has a starting price of 326, 500 RMB.
BMW says that pricing for the locally assembled and the imported versions are similar and, in some cases, the imported version of the new 3-Series generation is actually cheaper than the one which is assembled in China. For example, the 320Li Fashion model has a starting price of 354,600 RMB while the imported short wheelbase versions can be bought from 339,000 RMB, and both vehicles are using the same 2.0 liter turbo engine.
BMW says that the low output version in the 2.0T is producing 184 PS and 270 Nm of torque while the high output, found on the 328i is putting down 245 PS and 350 Nm of torque. Both units are mated to eight-speed automatic transmissions.
According to the German based automaker, the cheapest version of the new BMW 3-Series F30 in China is the 320, which starts at 326,500 RMB, while the top of the line 335i costs 590,000 RMB. The 316i is expected to be launched in China later on this year, using the same 1.6T engine from the 1-Series, and this version will become the new entry-level.
