A BMW 3-Series GT chassis has been recently spotted in the German based automaker’s factory and the model seems to be ready to hit the market.
After it was caught testing on the Nurburgring a few months ago, the BMW 3-Series GT (Gran Turismo) is once again entering our news, this time thanks to the guys at the Bimmer Post, who have managed to spot the new model’s chassis on the company’s assembly line. The BMW 3-Series GT, which will be known as the F34, will be presented to the public, according to our source, at the 2013 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit or at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show.
The BMW 3-Series GT will have a simple hatch design rather than the twin trunk arrangement and, unlike its larger brother, the F30, this one will be sportier. The engine lineup in the BMW 3-Series GT is expected to be carried over from the regular 3-Series F30 and this will include the four-cylinder turbo diesel unit found on the 320d, the four-cylinder petrol turbo from the 328i and even the six-cylinder turbo powering the new 335i. Engines are expected to be mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission in standard. The BMW 3-Series GT will hit the market in 2013.
